Kindergarten

 

Our youngest library goers are very excited to come to library class for the first time. We spend the first few classes of the year getting used to routines, learning about book care (including keeping books away from pets and little brothers and sisters),books in and using shelf markers to hold our place in the stacks. We also learn how to choose "just right books", how to check books in and out at the circulation desk, and model appropriate behavior in the library. 

 

Our lessons involve learning about different authors and genres and reinforcing what we've learned with discussion and extension activities.
